The study examines characteristics of “R-Urban” and locates its settlements in the southeastern US. Characteristics include five dimensions: population, economy, socio-culture, urban amenity, urban infrastructure. Towards to the end of study, we developed urban feature index to describe how urban is and how rural is in each city and town. The specific variables of the index were derived from statistical and GIS data of south-eastern states of the US. Then, the clustering technique used to extract the conceptual diagram of urban hierarchy. The result, urban feature score from the index, shows urbanized-level of south-eastern states of the US based on their urban features.
