This paper focuses on the influences of the two forces inside and outside enterprises, the enterprises’ export experience and neighboring exports spillover, on the entry and exit of the enterprises in the export markets. We explore the heterogeneity in which the nature of the enterprises, the features of the export sources and export destinations may exert. We use the Chinese Customs Data to make a multi-angle description of the dynamics of Chinese exporters entering and exiting the international markets first. The empirical results illustrate that enterprises’ export experience is a stabilizer for enterprises’ export dynamics while neighboring export spillover is a catalyzer of enterprises’ export dynamics. These two forces activate the dynamic evolution of Chinese enterprises’ export pattern under the moderating effect of the heterogeneity of export sources, export markets and export enterprises.
