Geographers have a long tradition of conducting fieldwork and leading field courses, both domestically and overseas. As global learning and awareness become increasingly important for students at US colleges and universities, geographers are well positioned to take students to international destinations. This interactive short paper outlines the challenges and rewards of leading undergraduates on a two-week urban environmental issues course in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is based on nine-consecutive years of running the program at a public liberal arts college. The paper also contains tips and suggestions for those who are new to international education and interested in developing overseas field courses.
