This session has been organized to expand on research into transformative learning within the field school or field study context. The session is focused on research that examines elements of identity, worldview and fears and aspirations of students and faculty participating on field study programs. Research based on in a pre and post field program assessment of students experience is a primary focus, however other means of assessing both transformative learning and experiences would also be of interest to this session. In this session, we are also interested in assessing the social element of field study and travel programs and the role of group dynamics and the fears and aspirations participants bring to extended travel programs. This session is useful for any faculty engaged in field school, experiential learning, and travel dynamics.
