In the discipline of spatiotemporal data infrastructure and spatiotemporal data discovery, metadata management is one of important topics, since it is a key aspect to help find the best datasets for users. This project aims to apply an open source platform package, CKAN (Comprehensive Knowledge Archive Network), to create a metadata management system for spatiotemporal datasets. The data source of metadata is from NASA (The National Aeronautics and Space Administration) CMR (Common Metadata Repository). Experiments and the project demo shows effective metadata management can be implemented with CKAN. Other potential applications such as linked data and RDF (The Resource Description Framework) data will be discussed.
