The advanced technology of sensors, moderate resolution of quality data and high frequency of synergistic revisiting time increase the combined use of Landsat 8 and Sentinel-2 in vegetation detection. Due to the wide use and easy accessibility of NDVI, the present letter contrast the consistency and coherence of the two sensors by NDVI and their corresponding red band and near-infrared band. These comparisons were performed in three test areas with similar time leaps but different atmosphere and geographical conditions. Results point out that the consistency between two sensors in all test areas by good correlation coefficient and high R2; however, the dispersion degree of comparison result arises when the data was acquired under different atmosphere conditions or the geographic environment with rapid change land cover.
