In times of diminishing resources and increasing pressure to prepare students for the workforce, we need to consider innovative ways to communicate the value of and advocate for the geographical perspective in solving real world problems. This session will feature panelists sharing their experiences in designing problem and project-based learning activities in partnership with non-geography faculty. Presenters will share their experiences, such as: (1) collaborating with faculty outside of geography (e.g. marketing, supply side management, biology, chemistry, sociology, graphic design) to create multi-disciplinary teams to work on projects that utilize different knowledges and technical skills; (2) partnering with regional institutions to work on community projects which require diverse expertise and experience; and (3) facilitating conversations with experts in the field (locally or nationally) to stimulate imagination and creative thinking. Each panelist will prepare a short 5 minute presentation which will be followed by questions and discussion.
