With university budgets facing regular cuts, academic restructuring (the dissolving and/or recombining) of departments is ever-present. Such reorganization may require changes in faculty, curricula, and shared resources. The panelists in this session will discuss the positive and negative experiences they have had in dealing with the changes that come through academic restructuring on university campuses. Rather than simply provide a forum for complaint, this panel seeks to foster productive conversation for how to proactively address such proposals. What are stories of struggle and success for the academic restructuring of geography programs?
