The Cartography Specialty Group of the American Association of Geographers is proud to host its 2018 Student Illustrated Paper Competition. This competition is an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to demonstrate their excellence in both scholarly research and cartographic design. During this session, a panel of expert judges will score participants on their ability to: (1) Perform scholarly research (this could include identification of a meaningful research statement and execution of appropriate methods/analysis), (2) Produce a map which meets its intended purpose, and (3) Communicate a well-formulated narrative to a broad audience (both verbally and through visuals). Please join us, as students from a diverse range of backgrounds and areas of interest share with us their work which works to push and challenge the boundaries of the discipline.
