Research on human dynamics has been gaining momentum in geography and many other disciplines in recent years. With the astonishing technological transformations and changing human dynamics taking place now, it is an imperative to improve our understanding of human dynamics in order to tackle the challenges ranging from climate change, public health, traffic congestion, economic growth, to digital divide, social equity, political movements, and cultural conflicts, among others. This panel session is intended to bring together researchers to discuss major challenges and future directions of human dynamics research from theoretical, methodological, and/or application perspectives. We look forward to discussions that are cross-disciplinary in nature and cover human dynamics from both individual and collective perspectives as well as from local to global scales. Feel free to email Dr. Shih-Lung Shaw ( and Dr. Dan Sui ( if you need additional information or have questions.
