Description

Geographers are well suited to address the existing and emergent issues in health and healthcare due to their holistic approach to place and health and geography’s inherent spatial sensitivities. A geographical perspective provides the tools to investigate the physical, sociocultural, economic, political, and psychological aspects of places in terms of how they shape people’s health, access and use healthcare services. This session is intended to provide a forum for perspectives of the complex transactions between people, place and health. To this end, emergent concepts and themes in Geographies of health and healthcare will be the focus of this session
