Inequality has drawn renewed scholarly interests recently, but the existing knowledge is still partial and largely aspatial. Inequality is sensitive to geographic scales and spatial organization, and that conventional approaches mask spatial agglomeration and the significance of space and place in shaping inequality. This paper examines spatiality of inequality in the urban context, including location, scale, space, place, and network, and approaches to synthesize determinants of spatial inequality. It also discusses the agenda for future research.
