Attaining true inclusivity in the public colleges and universities is easier said than done. Although tremendous advances have been made in the realm of increasing female enrollments for all ethnic groups, the males have not been able to maintain a comparable level of enrollment. The number of males in all ethnic groups is falling in comparison to their female counterparts. As males outnumber females in the 18-24 year age cohort, this disparity has repercussions outside of the classroom (not only for geography and geoscience). In this presentation we will explore this phenomenon and its implications for the future.
