Urban heat island refers to the phenomenon that an urban area is significantly warmer than its surrounding rural area. Vegetation phenology, which is sensitive to temperature, will not only be impacted by global scale climate change, but also this local temperature variation. The objective of this study is to examine the impact on phenology of different vegetation species caused by urban heat island among major U.S cities.
