Three areas of activity that are affecting Geographic Information Science & Technology in higher education in the United States are the growth of Certificate programs, the linking of professional credential exams with academic courses, and a renewed interest in programmatic external evaluation and/or accreditation. These will be the focus of this 2019 Journal of Geography in Higher Education (JGHE) lecture.
