The urban planning, construction management in China has stepped into an important transition period, The development model of urbanization is gradually shifting from incremental development to stock optimization, The urban and rural spatial planning mode has gradually shifted from the space planning for growth to the space planning for governance, which proposes urgent requirement to the further improvement of community planning. Based on the study on China's special transition background, and the review of the participatory community development in China and abroad, The micro-reform practice was carried out in the Shenjing Ancient Village of Guangzhou City in the form of a participatory workshop. Through various types of participatory activities, ancient building activation, small-scale space design, etc., explore the ways of community self-renewal, explore the historical and cultural values of the community, and cultivate residents' sense of community identity from top to bottom and bottom-up. Explore the multi-party main body to participate in the community building mechanism.
