Over two decades of experience, the definition of biodiversity mainstreaming in the GEF context has evolved. For the GEF, biodiversity mainstreaming is: “the process of embedding biodiversity considerations into policies, strategies, and practices of key public and private actors that impact or rely on biodiversity, so that it is conserved and sustainably used both locally and globally.” The presentation will synthesize key findings, lessons learned, and future directions for GEF’s biodiversity mainstreaming investment strategy based on a recent review of completed projects.
