Biodiversity conservation is fundamental to human well-being, and natural ecosystems provide the goods and services that underpin sustainable development worldwide. In recognition of this connection, one of two goals of the 2014 USAID Biodiversity Policy is to integrate biodiversity as an essential component of human development. To support this goal, the USAID Office of Forestry and Biodiversity created the USAID BRIDGE project, designed to identify and promote tools and approaches for integrating biodiversity conservation throughout the USAID portfolio. This presentation will describe key thematic and technical approaches to biodiversity integration across the USAID portfolio with a focus on the work of USAID BRIDGE (2015 to 2020).
