Remote sensing imagery is a valuable data source for many studies about the earth and its landscape. Traditional use of remote sensing imagery is a complex, time intensive and costly process requiring access to high end computers and software. The user must understand remote sensing concepts and be able to access and manage very large data sets to carry out an analysis. This can be an overwhelming process. This poster introduces important remote sensing concepts and illustrates how simple, browser-based applications from Esri can be used to introduce students to remote sensing concepts including access to satellite imagery using only a browser.
