Hundreds of Americans actively collect old bricks that are embossed with manufacturers' distinct brand imprints on them. Many collectors are members of the International Brick Collectors Association (IBCA), which publishes a journal covering various aspects of brick collecting, sponsors brick swaps among members, and gathers and maintains comprehensive information on brick brands in the United States. This paper focuses on contributions of brick collectors and IBCA to enhance our knowledge of geographical dimensions of brick manufacturing in the United States during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
