Duluth is a major port city located in Minnesota. Situated along the north shore of Lake Superior, it is a popular tourist destination for the Midwest. Tourism can bring in positive results economically, though with it can bring adverse effects. In my research, I will discuss the overall impacts that the tourism industry has made on Duluth by looking at varying data including ethnographic data, political geography, and the history of the city. General attitudes towards the tourism industry in Duluth that have been collected through voluntary survey will also be presented. My research findings indicate that tourism has helped the city economically but has caused varying neighborhoods around the area to change alongside it, as well as how the location of the city in relation to surrounding cities has affected the overall traffic of Duluth.
