Each year, the Journal of Latin American Geography sponsors a prominent speaker who addresses pressing issues in Latin America (and beyond). This year´s lecture will feature New York Times correspondent Simon Romero. Romero, a New Mexico Native, has covered Latin America for more than a decade, moving between Venezuela, Brazil, and the U.S.- Mexico borderlands. His reporting has covered a period of dynamic social, economic, and political change in the region and he is one of the most respected journalistic voices in the region.
