This book is a discussion of Ashanté Reese's forthcoming text, "Black Food Geographies: Race, Self-Reliance and Food Access in Washington, DC." Black Food Geographies, published by UNC Press, investigates the possibilities and limits of Black residents’ use of self-reliance in response to a depletion of local food options in the nation's capitol.
