More sustainable transport and the strengthening of non-motorized and public transport modes in urban areas depend on policies at the local level. Cities worldwide have shown that travel demand management (TDM) can change travel behavior in urban areas.
In this session, we are discussing theoretical contributions and empirical analyses regarding the effectiveness of TDM related measures including policies towards automobile and bicycle parking. We invite papers discussing TDM or parking related policies as well as analyses to improve the quality of life in cities and urban neighborhoods by reducing private car travel and promoting sustainable transport.
