This panel will discuss the results of the 2018 midterm elections in the United States and offer insights on the upcoming 2020 elections. The election over the House of Representatives, the Senate, select state elections, and the prospects for Trump's reelection in 2020 will be analyzed by political geographers. Why did the Democrats succeed or fail in winning control of the House and Senate? What state elections for governor and legislatures offer clues to our current electoral geography? What states and voters will be key in winning the presidency in 2020? Geographers will offer quantitative and qualitative analysis in seeking to explain our current and future political geography.
