With the advancements of widespread Internet access, Web-based GIS is attracting increasing research interest. Internet GIS, virtual globes, geographic information services, and spatial cloud computing pose new research directions for the geo-science domain. This session seeks submissions in various aspects of web-based GIS technologies and applications. Relevant topics include but not limited to: • Applications, Strategy, methodology, technologies for geospatial discovery, search, and selection (including geo-portal, mash up application, etc) • Web-based search architecture, framework • Web-based mapping • Web 2.0 and Web X.0 concepts in Web applications • Interoperability and standardization issues (including protocol, interface, format, structure, syntax/semantic description, specification) • Web service evaluations, integration, and composition • Workflow and Business process management (including business protocols, business intelligence, service level agreements, and business licensing models) • Web index structure, strategy, methodology, technologies • Analysis, practices and lessons
