Internet of Things (IoT) entrepreneurs create new ventures by connecting market values with digitized landscape pixels. Most research to date has focused on how different creative destruction strategies influence new IoT business formation, survival, growth, and job creation during landscape digital transformation. IoT entrepreneurs extend market mechanism to the traditionally nonmonetary socioenvironmental contexts of the community by digitizing and commercializing the physical landscape and social heritage. Moreover, an increasingly digitized and commercialized landscape can coproduce both the IoT industry and the urban community simultaneously. Therefore, using the State Grid Corporation of China’s ubiquitous power IoT project as an example to analyze IoT entrepreneurs’ business strategies and corresponding ways of capitalizing on landscape resources through digitization, this research connects the long-standing paradigms of entrepreneurship development and community evolution and forges a new direction for interdisciplinary theoretical and empirical studies.
