Author meets critics: Richa Nagar's Hungry Translations: Relearning the World through Radical Vulnerability

Type: Panel
Sponsor Groups: Feminist Geographies Specialty Group, Socialist and Critical Geography Specialty Group
Organizers: Rupal Oza
Chairs: Rupal Oza

The author meets critics panel generates a conversation around Richa Nagar's Hungry Translations: Relearning the World through Radical Vulnerability. The rich text invites rethinking of solidarity, collaboration and research. It fundamentally questions who generates knowledge and for whom should such knowledge be 'translated,' made audible, and visible? What then are the ethical responsibilities that scholars in the global north have when engaging with knowledge producers from the global south whose language differs from 'recognized' modes? It is through these questions, this panel seeks to delve deeply into the vision of radical vulnerability that Nagar proposes.
