This panel will focus on the Secondary Cities (2C) Initiative, a field-based initiative of the Department of State Office of the Geographer to map resiliency, human security, and emergency preparedness. Panelists are all participants of the 2C Initiative and will share their stories of how geospatial capacity is enhanced through networks and partnerships around the world. Framing results around stories of resiliency, tales of human security, and accounts of emergency preparedness, the 2C Initiative employs participatory mapping to enable local change and adaptation in rapidly changing, under-mapped and under-examined secondary cities.
