In response to these extraordinary times, and a call from the American Association of Geographers for panels on COVID-19 Pandemic Response, we are asking for participation from geographers with an expertise in emergency management, medicine, epidemiology, urban resources, and civil rights to participate in a panel discussion. Specifically, we will discuss the topics of:
*Response timeliness and appropriateness
*Geographic response to a situation that changes by the hour
*Fair and Equitable response for a city’s vulnerable populations
*Temporary residence for those experiencing homelessness or housing uncertainty
*Repurposing of public and private buildings for pandemic response
*Other topics as appropriate
We believe this panel can contribute as a guide for academic and practicing geographers to organize a response to COVID-19, analyze the response after the pandemic, and provide a framework for lessons learned and future response.
