The purpose of the paper is to present the diversity of the content of education in the field of socio-economic geography and entrepreneurship and the proposed ways of implementing lessons in secondary schools in Poland, included in the national core curriculum and their adaptation to the needs of a contemporary employee.
As we know, education is one of the basic factors conducive to social and economic development and developing a knowledge-based economy, because it ensures the inflow of qualified labour force to the labour market. Therefore, it is particularly important to select the content of education and methods of their implementation in such a way as to effectively implement the assumed objectives and prepare young people for the needs of the contemporary labour market.
Today, the competences that a person starting his or her professional career should have are, above all, the following: comprehensive problem solving, critical thinking, human management, cooperation with others, inference and decision making, negotiation, but also creativity and flexibility. Therefore, when analyzing the provisions of the core curriculum from socio-economic geography and entrepreneurship in Poland, the author assessed their adaptation to the needs of employers. Moreover, due to the "employee market" currently functioning in Poland, she pointed out possible consequences of education in this area for the contemporary labour market.
