Fieldwork is an important component of geography education. Recently, more and more studies have focused on promoting the learning experiences in geography fieldwork by using technologies. In this study, we designed a self-guided fieldwork by using LINE, an instant messaging application which is popular in many countries in Asia. LINEBot services were used to develop a treasure-hunting game, leading participants walking around the Guandu area, Taipei, Taiwan, the fieldwork area. This kind of fieldwork is expected to increase participants’ learning motivations as well as teamwork skills. As the fieldworks have been held twice in 2019 and 2020, the results of students’ feedbacks in these two years and guidelines of employing instant messaging applications in fieldworks will be presented and discussed in the conference.
