The Coastal and Marine Specialty (COMA) Group offers the Norbert Psuty Student Paper Merit Award to recognize outstanding coastal research conducted by students at all levels, from undergraduate students to Ph.D. candidates. The award is named for the highly influential Dr. Psuty, whose research on the evolution of beaches, dunes, and barrier islands has shaped our field. This session covers a wide range of topics, including (but not limited to): coastal and aeolian geomorphology, hazards studies, human-environment interaction and socio-economic systems, climate and sea-level rise in the coastal zone, coastal biology and ecology, and applications of GIS and remote sensing to coastal environments. Winners receive a monetary award for their superlative efforts.
