Call for Submissions

If your work is related to river science, please consider submitting an abstract to the session River
Dynamics: Forms, Processes, and Observations at the (virtual) AAG 2021 Meeting. Our goal is
to bring together a wide range of studies on river dynamics including geomorphology, hydrology,
hydraulics, ecology as well as interdisciplinary studies connecting these dynamics to society across
all spatial and temporal scales.
Please contact session organizers Quinn Lewis (quinn.lewis@uwaterloo.ca) or Tanya Shukla
(tshukla2@illinois.edu) with the abstract and author PIN to participate in the session

River systems are highly dynamic and driven by the interactions among geomorphic, hydraulic,
hydrologic, ecological, and anthropogenic processes. Rivers move sediment and flow constituents
from uplands to oceans, dynamically shaping the landscape along the way. Improved understanding
of river dynamics is also vital for dealing with socio-economic problems such as floods, water supply,
sedimentation, and climate change, and to develop effective river management and restoration
strategies. This session invites studies of all aspects of river dynamics (geomorphology, hydrology,
hydraulics, ecology) and the interaction of these dynamics with society, across all spatial and
temporal scales using a range of field, modeling, and remote sensing approaches in a variety of
geographic settings.
