Join us for the seventh annual workshop in a series of themes addressing career advancement and success for women in Geography. This year’s workshop will be a virtual one where we will explore practical ideas for women in geography and GIS to integrate Self-Advocacy into career advancement. Research consistently shows that men self-advocate and self-promote more often than women, which potentially leads to differential career outcomes. The question is - how and when should women self-advocate more often? The workshop will introduce discussions andtools towards a self-advocacy mindset for envisioning career advancement, managing uncertainty, solving problems, and seeking new experiences. Whether it is negotiating for salaries or raises, or advocating for broader improvements in the professional landscape, thismindset fosters clear communication, asset management, and success.
